In conversations with clients, friends and from our own personal experience, the scammers are continuing the email phishing scams along with moving to the telephone and calling us directly.  If you are ever contacted and threatened to be arrested or jailed or an attempt at exploitation is made, just hang up!

In one scam we know of, the individual was contacted on their cell by someone claiming to be from Canada Revenue Agency saying $8700 was owed immediately and if not paid the RCMP would be calling.  Note that although the collections agents at CRA can get a little assertive, they will not be sending the RCMP.

Along with the continued phishing scams, I myself been contacted by phone with a digital voice saying I am being sued and must call a number or will be arrested. Just know these are scams and ignore them.
